2019 SAF Association Scottish Dinner

As always, the dinner is open to all SAF Association members. You do not need to live in Scotland or have a Scottish name! 40% of our dinner attendees in 2018 had ventured from south of Hadrian’s Wall. Most, but not all, had served in Oman during the period 1966 to 1982.

The evening is less formal than the annual Association dinner in London, but with exactly the same overall aim of renewing/rekindling friendships and making new friends from within the SAF Association membership.

Douneside House, with its strong services/military background (www.dounesidehouse.co.uk) has been the venue of the Scottish dinner for many years. Set in rural Aberdeenshire, you can either try to join those members of the Association who enjoy all that Douneside offers (a “military tariff” is available to us) or find suitable accommodation within reach of Douneside House for the dinner.

If you intend to stay at Douneside for the Scottish dinner, please advise them as far ahead of the dinner weekend as possible - manager@dounesidehouse.co.uk. Accommodation is limited. Douneside attempt to give priority to SAF Association members wishing to stay for the Dinner, but, being run now as a commercial venture, will have to accept bookings from the general public for unoccupied rooms as our dinner date approaches.

You should mention ‘Oman Dinner, Saturday 11 May 2019’ when making your booking with Douneside. This will greatly assist whoever you are in contact with there.

Please then advise myself (Jonathan Forbes) the names of those in your party wishing to attend the dinner on Saturday, 11th May 2019 .
