Captain Philip Brooke-Popham

We are very sorry to pass on the sad news of the death of Philip Brooke-Popham, late Commander Royal Navy of Oman, on Saturday 4th April 2026 aged 97.


Philip commanded the navy, then the Sultan of Oman's Navy (SON), from 1973 - 76 in the very early stages of its existence and during the challenging last 2 years of the Dhofar war. He supervised the introduction of modern warships into the navy. A full obituary will be published in due course.


Funeral details are as follows:

21 April 2026 at 3pm
